Kevin Snyder

Director of Planning

Kevin, with over two decades of experience in city and regional planning, disaster recovery, and community resilience, is a leader in the planning field. His career is marked by significant contributions to Louisiana's recovery and resilience efforts, starting with the post-Hurricane Katrina Louisiana Speaks Parish Recovery Planning process. Kevin's work with the Orleans Parish School Board and Recovery School District in New Orleans post-Katrina resulted in over $1.5 billion in recovery grant funding, showcasing his ability to deliver innovative solutions to complex challenges. He excels in guiding interdisciplinary teams to enhance community and regional resilience through collaborative and inclusive planning processes.

Beyond Louisiana, Kevin has led significant recovery efforts across the country while serving as a Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator for FEMA. These include leading the Federal interagency team in developing Puerto Rico’s Economic and Disaster Recovery Plan post-Hurricane Maria and coordinating disaster recovery efforts in West Virginia after the 2016 floods.

As the Director of Planning at the Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX), Kevin will lead community, regional, and state-level planning efforts, collaborating with partners to find creative approaches to their most complex challenges. His blend of public and private sector insights positions him as a pivotal figure in advancing community and regional resilience.
