Maia Adams

PowerUp INTERN

Maia is a student at Occidental College in Los Angeles, where she is majoring in Urban and Environmental Policy and minoring in Sociology. On campus, Maia serves as the Lead Intern for Sustainability Research and Implementation for campus dining. Maia has also gained experience through internships tracking clean energy policy in California and at the federal level and collaborating with coalitions and legislators to advance electric, solar, biogas, and wind technologies.

After moving to Baton Rouge from New Mexico in fifth grade, Maia became aware of Louisiana’s vulnerability to climate change and became passionate about finding equitable and sustainable solutions to these unique environmental challenges.

Maia joined the CPEX team as a PowerUp Louisiana Intern to gain experience in resilience-building and clean energy initiatives in Louisiana, which she believes are vital to empowering and preparing communities to implement necessary and just climate solutions. In this role, Maia will support CPEX’s state-level policy work and assist with the development of the Louisiana Offshore Wind Roadmap.

In her spare time, Maia enjoys spending time outdoors, going on walks with her dogs, traveling, and trying new foods.
