Summary

In collaboration with the Division of Administration, CPEX hosted two Workshops for Governor Edwards and his cabinet, which brought together key stakeholders including state agency executives, nonprofit leaders, and federal officials. The workshops aimed to foster a shared understanding of funding opportunities, priority criteria, and necessary steps for developing competitive projects aligning with climate adaptation, economic development, resiliency, and community development goals.

CPEX facilitated discussions on state agency priorities, cross-agency collaboration, and building the capacity needed at the state and local levels to optimize project proposals. This initiative aimed to position Louisiana competitively for federal funds, allowing the implementation of existing plans such as the Climate Action Plan and Statewide Transportation Plan to build future-readiness and enhance residents’ quality of life.

Outcome

CPEX’s expertise was instrumental in seizing unprecedented federal funding opportunities, contributing to development of priorities, collaborative teams, and positioning the state for competitive and non-competitive funding. The organization conducted interviews with selected secretaries, developed a summary report shared with the Division of Administration and the Infrastructure Coordinator, and outlined next steps for the remainder of the administration, many of which have been completed.
